SIYB Training Packages
The SIYB programme comprises four separate training packages, which are designed to respond to the progressive needs of potential and existing entrepreneurs at different stages of business development. These are:
GYBI is intended for people who would like to start a business, and who, through the training, develop a concrete business idea ready for implementation.
SYB is for potential and small entrepreneurs who want to start a small business or formalize systems and already have a concrete business idea. The program is a combination of training, fieldwork to do market survey. Training support is given to help participants assess their readiness to start a business, prepare a business plan and evaluate its viability.
IYB targets existing and practicing entrepreneurs to good principles of business management. The six IYB modules (Buying and Stock Control, Marketing, Record Keeping, Costing, Planning for your business, and People and Productivity) can be taught individually or all combined in a full course.
EYB enables growth-oriented small enterprises to develop a business growth strategy through training interventions.
The SYB and IYB packages also include the SIYB Business Game, a practical simulation tool that complements the SIYB training of potential and existing entrepreneurs. It assists participants understand the realities of starting and running a business. It is played within a room setting. It contains 4 Modules which are Modular.
The International Labour Organization trains ILO/SIYB Master Trainers who upon successful certification are licensed to carry out ILO/SIYB TOTs to train and certify successful trainers. The potential trainers must be active in the business development with a commitment to transferring the skills to potential and existing entrepreneurs using SIYB methodologies and tools.
The ILO/SIYB TOTs are intensive and conducted for 10 days by the ILO/SIYB Master Trainers. After the TOT, potential SIYB Trainers are expected to market and carry out a TOPE and TOE successfully before they are certified. The Master trainer assesses their competence as they carry out the training and related activities and certify them as SIYB Trainers.
